AWM Group and recycling of oily contaminated waste
Multi-disciplined waste management company, the AWM Group have joined ventures with Glasgow based Hitech Environmental to launch their solution to the recycling and pre-treating of oily contaminated waste and materials in the Midlands area. Latest legislation is stipulating that waste going to landfill is now pre-treated. Material from many factories and automotive companies in the region are finding that their rags are often saturated with oil and therefore, being rejected for landfill due to their hazardous nature.
The AWM group has partnered up with Hitech Environmental, with the aim to provide a solution to local companies facing this difficulty and at the same time helping to reduce the amounts of waste ending up in landfill.
Using Hitech Environmental's 'contaminant extraction' process up in Scotland, which was highly commended at the National Recycling Awards 2006, for 'Best Industry Recycling Initiative' for this oily materials process, the AWM Group will collect oily rags from around the Midlands area which will then be treated appropriately to extract the hazardous content.
Thus, leaving a waste which can then be re-categorised as non-hazardous, with many of the rags being recycled and reused, reducing the amounts going to landfill.
'Many companies in the Midlands's area have been facing problems due to the new legislation'.
'We felt able to offer a solution to this predicament at the same time reducing levels of waste ending in landfill, through recycling' Said Paul Woodhead, Managing Director, the AWM Group.
'We are delighted to join forces with Hitech Environmental especially after their recent win at the National Recycling Awards for their oily rags process and being awarded 'Best Waste Minimisation Project 2006'.
Hitech Environmental was awarded the awards on November 15th.
The judges said: 'The Company has some up with what appears to be a safe, secure and sensible way of dealing with this hazardous waste locally.' The AWM group is also celebrating again, after another double victory for the waste management company.
They have just been honoured with two awards which include being named as one of 'Professional Builder's Top Products 0f 2006' for Asbestoclear and have been presented with an ARCA National Training Award.
